Who We Are.
BABU is a dog and cat animal welfare organisation in Spain. We exist to reduce suffering in a practical, compassionate, and lasting way. Our work brings together prevention, rescue and recovery, adoption, and education because the problem is connected, so the response must be connected too. We also like to celebrate victories, keep a positive and pragmatic attitude, and keep busy doing what we can to support the mission.

WHY WE EXIST
Animal suffering does not begin only when an animal is found in danger. It often begins much earlier, when prevention is missing, unwanted litters continue, and communities do not have enough support, education, or practical solutions. BABU exists to help animals in need today while also addressing the causes of suffering over time. This problem is best understood as structural, not isolated, which is why BABU’s model is built as a connected response rather than a rescue-only one.

HOW WE WORK
We believe animal welfare should be kind, organised, and measurable. Prevention helps reduce future suffering. Rescue and recovery help animals who need care now. Adoption supports suitable long-term homes. Education helps build a more responsible and compassionate future. Together, these pillars form one joined-up model designed to create stronger outcomes over time.

OUR APPROACH
We try to avoid two common mistakes. One is treating rescue as the whole answer. The other is speaking about long-term change without showing how it will be achieved. Our approach combines immediate care with structural work, so that compassion is supported by process and good intentions are supported by a model people can understand and trust. BABU’s audience guidance also shows that values-led supporters respond best to clear logic, ethics, and a visible theory of change rather than slogans alone.

OUR VALUES
Compassion matters because every life matters. Responsibility matters because animals deserve careful safeguarding and appropriate outcomes. Transparency matters because trust should be earned, not assumed. Collaboration matters because lasting progress is stronger when communities, partners, and professionals work together. These values sit at the centre of how BABU wants to work and communicate.

WHY THIS MATTERS
A system that only reacts will always remain under pressure. A system that includes prevention, care, adoption, and education has a better chance of reducing suffering more sustainably over time. BABU’s aim is not only to respond to need but to help create a future with fewer unwanted litters, fewer animals left without care, and a stronger culture of responsibility, empathy, and welfare.
OUR COMMITMENT
We want BABU to be known not only for care, but for a way of working that is thoughtful, responsible, and credible. We aim to communicate honestly, act carefully, and build trust through transparency, learning, and steady progress. Public-facing BABU messaging is intended to feel warm, calm, competent, and clear, with proof of care and process rather than drama.
CLOSING
